Link Farms How They Harm Your Rank
Considering that much of your Page rank is based on Link popularity it might be logical to conclude that the more links you have for your site the better. However this is not exactly so Google lays heavy emphasis on quality and relevance so you will need to be very careful about whom you link to.
What is a link farm? This is a site that has little or no content and is linking to all sorts of different sites, which generally do not have any relevance to the site in question. When you link to these sites your link is worthless as it will just get lost in the crowd and not bring any traffic to your site.

Beware of unrelated links
Having all sorts of unrelated links is considered by Google as link stuffing and an attempt to cheat the search engine. This will get you penalized if you link to one and quite possibly banned if you yourself make links that are unrelated to your business.
Link farms are traps that you need to avoid. They can do a lot of harm to your site. If you partner with them and if you compile one of these infamous link sites you can get banned by Google. This is because link farms are just as the name implies a site full of links from anything and everyone. There is no relevance or quality to these links and Google will not accept this type of site with just a huge number of varied links. This type of site will not help their customers with their searches and is considered useless by Google.
Other linking methods that Google will not like:
-Buying links: These are not always relevant as they can just be a variety of links from different sites, which may not be complimentary to your business. This is similar to making a link farm. -Don’t build links too fast: Google will think you are trying to spam their search engine. Build links slowly and consistently. Try to add links on a regular basis just a few at a time.

What sort of links is Google looking for?
-Links that provide good resources to your visitors and Google’s customers -Not too many links on one page -Links that are relevant to your business -Links to quality sites-providing good resources to your visitors -Try not to put too many links to a page-10-20 is enough -Categorize your links- put your links into categories. This is very helpful to your visitors (Google’s customers)
As you can see from these points everything relating to Google is bound by their rules. Whenever you want to do any traffic building technique involving Google always remember partnering with them is the best way to go. Linking is no exception. Try to link with other sites using Google’s rules and you will succeed in building a strong linking system and not being involved with link farm systems.
