Algorithms: These are the rules that search engines go by to index your site. Their robots are programmed using these algorithms. Google has the most sophisticated algorithms. Most of these rules and regulations are kept a secret to prevent spamming and cheating of the search engines. Google is continuously updating and tweaking their algorithms so that they can outsmart the “black hats” and those who think they can cheat the Google machine.

Sponsored links: These are on the top of the SERP page and can also appear at the bottom of the page.
More features are being added to the search engines as competition between the big 3 heat up. They are all striving to make the search engines more relevant and user friendly. To date Google definitely leads the pack regarding relevancy and the massive amount of searches they are attracting.

The main thing is to do it legally and play by Google’s rules. Black hat methods will not get you very far in the end and can even get you banned so do it right and build up your Page Rank slowly and carefully and you will find your rank in the SERPs will gradually rise and bring you a steady stream of visitors, leads and sales.
