So how do you know what size website will fit into your business?

When you first start your business you may not have a very large website. It will all depend on the actual purpose of your site. However you can build up your website by adding content and links to it.

Plan to build a large site? :

Make it easy on your visitors and the Googlebots by having a table of contents. This is not unlike a table of contents for a book. Your table will have links to all areas of your website.
An important part of site size is getting rid of orphan files: Now what are these you may be wondering? Orphan files are useless files that serve no purpose on your site. These generally come when you have to uninstall an application and some files are not entirely deleted. These files will be known as orphan files. So remember to check carefully as you do not want these useless files just lying around.

Deleting them: a handy piece of software called ChangeAgent can help you do this. It also has an added bonus. It will fix broken links on your site as well. Deleting orphan files will not harm your Page Rank.

Planning is important with a large site and should be done before you even start to build it. Tailor your content and resources around the visitors you want to attract to your site. Remember that your visitors and Google’s customers are the same and if you aim to please them you will also please Google and increase your Page Rank.

When adding to your site: always remember not to add content too fast. Googlebots will give the red alert to Google that you are trying to spam them. So always remember to build carefully, methodically and regularly. Once a week is good. Some people just add a page of content per week. This can be an informative article or an interesting news story about your industry. Let your visitors know that new content will be added on a regular basis. This will keep them returning for more and increase your repeat traffic. This gives additional chances for closing the sales.

So go ahead think big when it comes to Google Page Rank. Google will not penalize you if you have a small website but the bigger it is the more Google will like it. However always remember the Golden Google rules. Great content, good resources (links) and keep it relevant. This will help you raise your website Page Rank as your site grows. This is in turn will bring more profits as targeted traffic builds
