Page Rank What Is It And How Does It Help Me?
Page Rank is the name given to the algorithms that Google uses when it indexes your site for positioning in the Google search engine.
You can see this when you download the Google tool bar. It is the little meter in the center. It will be grey if your site has not been indexed or in the Google sand box. When you have a Page Rank the meter will be green it ranges from 1-10 with ten being the highest.
How Page Rank began: Page Rank was created by the Google boys Larry Page and Sergey Brin as part of their thesis paper in Stanford University. From this they developed the Google search engine. As mentioned it is the basis of Google’s algorithms, used to index and position sites.

How it works
Page rank measures the quality of a site. A large factor in this assessment is link popularity. This is the quantity and quality of the links your site has received, plus their relevance, to your business. The more of these links you have the higher your Page Rank. The second most important factor is good relevant and useful content.
Tools used by Page Rank:
The Google directory: This is where all the information about the different websites is stored. The Googlebots go out and gather information and it is stored here. This is similar to a yellow pages for websites. Page Rank sorts all the information here and allocates a Page Rank for all sites.
Google Toolbar: This is how you can access your Page Rank and those of any website you visit. It is a free download at http://google.com the Page rank is meant to be assessed every 3 months so it is not always up to date.

There are several ways to improve page Rank:
1. Article distribution: Try to distribute at least 1-2 articles a month. You can gain quality related backlines with this promotion. 2. Link baiting: make your site irresistible to other web masters by filling it with great content and resources. They will be compelled to link to you and give their visitors extra resources. This will give you more quality back links. 3. Don’t forget to set up a link page so others can link to you. 4. Blog at least every 2-3 days or everyday if you can. Put anchor text links in your blogs that lead to useful content pages and products that readers can use. 5. Good content: continue to add interesting and useful content that is related to your industry. Try to add at least once a week 6. Make your website professional and user friendly. 7. Make a site map: this will help Googlebots find their way around your site. You can make one for free at Google. 8. Submit to other search engines and Directories
Once you have done all these things you will see a rise in your Page Rank and will get a better position in the Google search engine. Remember to build content and links slowly and carefully giving priority to quality and relevence. In this way you will increase traffic to your site and increase your sales.
